Memorial service in Rio

The Consulate General and the Norwegian Seaman’s Church in Rio de Janeiro will arrange a memorial service at Christ Church in Rio on Thursday, 20 September 2012, at 5:00 pm.

Arrival of the casket

The casket bearing the remains of Princess Ragnhild, Mrs Lorentzen is scheduled to arrive at Oslo Airport Gardermoen on Saturday, 22 September, 2012. The precise time of arrival will be announced at a later date.

His Majesty The King and Her Highness Princess Astrid, Mrs Ferner will be in attendance to receive the casket.

Funeral service

The funeral service for Princess Ragnhild will be held in the Palace Chapel on Friday, 28 September 2012, at 12:00 pm. Their Majesties The King and Queen, Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Prince and Crown Princess, Her Highness Princess Astrid, Mrs Ferner and Her Highness Princess Märtha Louise will be in attendance.

Bishop Ole Christian Kvarme and Dean of Oslo Cathedral Olav Dag Hauge will preside over the ceremony. Approximately 120 guests are expected to attend.

There will be a photo pool in the chapel.
Other members of the press will be directed to the Palace Square. Please see the separate item on accreditation.

The funeral service will be followed by a reception at the Palace hosted by Their Majesties The King and Queen.

Asker Church

Princess Ragnhild, Mrs Lorentzen will be laid to rest at Asker Church, with only close family members in attendance. The family has expressed a wish to keep the burial a private affair, without the presence of the press.

Official programme to proceed as usual

The Royal Family’s official programme will be carried out as planned in the period up to the funeral. Activities originally planned for the day of the funeral service will be rescheduled.

Pool and accreditation

The Press pool will be comprised of invited representatives of TV, stills and video media and one journalist from the written press.
