The King's Medal of Merit

It is conferred as “a reward for service in the fields of art, science and industry and for outstanding public service”. The medal is in silver, but can be conferred in gold on very special occasions.

Design

The obverse of the medal has the likeness of the reigning Monarch in profile with his name and motto. On the reverse is a wreath bearing the words “Royal Medal of Merit”. The name of the recipient is engraved inside the wreath.

How the medal is worn

The medal is worn on the left breast suspended from a ribbon in the colours of the Banner of the Realm, red with a yellow stripe in the centre.

The medal is the property of the person on whom it is conferred.
