Guided tours of the Royal Palace

The Royal Palace in Oslo is open to the public during the summer, from late June until the middle of August, with tickets available from early March the same year.

The Royal Palace is open to visitors during the summer. In 2025 the season lasts from 21 June until 17 August.

A guided tour

All visitors must follow a guided tour. Tours are usually given in Norwegian every 20 minutes. There are also several tours in English given every day. The tour takes the visitors through some of the most beautiful state rooms in the Royal Palace.

Rooms on the tour

During a tour, the guide will take you through the Palace's most beautiful reception rooms, such as the Minister's Salon and the White Salon. We will visit the Bird Room, where those awaiting an audience with His Majesty the King wait to be announced, as well as the Palace's banquet halls. The Small and Large Banquet Halls are used for larger events, and when there is a state dinnerr at the Palace, the Large Dining Hall can accommodate over 200 people.

You will learn more about the building's unique history and experience what it’s like to be in the Palace’s many historic rooms and halls.

In 2025 we will focus particularly on what lies beneath the altar in the Palace Chapel, where King Carl Jonhan – on October 1, 1825 – laid the foundation stone of the Palace. Along with the stone, several very special coins were also placed.

We will also take a closer look at how the large dinners are set up in the Palace's Grand Dining Hall.
