Court mourning to be observed for one month after the funeral of King Harald V
In connection with the death of King Harald, His Majesty King Haakon VIII has declared that the Court will observe a period of mourning to last through Friday, 9 October.
During the period of court mourning, the Royal House of Norway will cancel all activities scheduled on the official programme with the exception of constitutional duties such as meetings of the Council of State, attendance at the formal opening of the Storting (the Norwegian parliament), and the holding of certain audiences. For the duration of the mourning period, the members of the Royal Family and employees of the Royal Court will dress in dark colours or uniforms with a black armband. Public access to the Royal Residences will be suspended during the mourning period.
After 9 October, the Royal House will gradually resume its official programme. As a general rule, official visits and activities in Norway and abroad that were under planning during King Harald's reign have been cancelled, and a new official programme for the Royal House will be drawn up.
